The four Cs.

Every diamond is graded on four things. Nature settled three of them long before anyone found the stone. The fourth is decided by a person. Change each one on this stone and see what you are really paying for.

Colour

Nature leaves a trace of yellow in most white diamonds. Graders judge it face down on white, beside master stones, from D to Z.

G, near colourless

A grader sees it beside a D. Once set, almost no one will. For many people, the best balance of beauty and value.

Will you see it?
Not once it is set.
Worth paying for?
Yes. Noticeably less than D to F, and looks the same on the hand.

Clarity

Almost every diamond grew around tiny crystals and feathers. A grader hunts for them at ten times.

VS2, very slight

Minor inclusions you see under magnification and never with your own eyes.

Will you see it?
Not without a loupe.
Worth paying for?
Yes. Looks flawless, costs far less.

Carat

Carat is weight, not size. Most of the weight hides in the depth, so a stone twice as heavy is only about a quarter wider.

1.00 carat, 6.5 mm across

The size most people picture. Every other weight here is measured against it. Prices step up at round weights, so a stone just under one looks the same and can cost noticeably less.

Cut

The one a person decides: the angles that send light back to your eye. Cut too shallow or too deep, and the light leaks out of the bottom.

Excellent. 91% of the light comes back.

Light that enters comes back out of the top: bright, full of fire, an even pattern of sparkle.

Will you see it?
Yes. It is the brightest.
Worth paying for?
Always. Never save here.
